Oscar Nominations
The 2019 Oscar nominations are out with ‘Roma’ and ‘The Favourite’ tied with the most nominations at 10. Other notable things to take note of:
‘Black Panther’ is the first superhero movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
‘Roma’ is the first Netflix movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar
Best Actress nominee Yalitza Aparicio for ‘Roma’ is the first indigenous woman to be nominated for an Oscar.
Lady Gaga scores her 2nd and 3rd Oscar nominations in the Best Actress and Best Original Song categories.
Less than a month away from the ceremony, no host been chosen.
New Music Friday from Weezer
Ahead of their March 1st release of the Black Album, Weezer surprise dropped a covers album. The Teal Album includes covers of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ and The Turtles ‘Happy Together.’ Available now to stream!
Cardi B vs. Tomi Lahren
Uh oh! Cardi B got into a Twitter spat with ‘Fox Nation’ personality Tomi Lahren over Trump’s proposed wall. When push came to shove, Cardi B simply retweeted and added, “Leave me alone. I will dog walk you.”
New 2019 Grammy Performers
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Miley Cyrus have been added to the lineup of 2019 Grammy Award performers. Previously announced performers include Janelle Monáe and Kacey Musgraves. Alicia Keys will host the show on Feb. 10th on CBS.
The U.S. Government shutdown is over…for now.
After the longest government shutdown in U.S history, President Donald Trump has signed a deal to reopen the government for three weeks. This deal doesn’t include funding for his border wall.
